Pine County Jail Release Paths
Leaving Pine County Jail does not always mean going home. A local release may follow bond, dismissal, a court order, credit for time served, or completion of a county sentence. Supervision may begin after the person leaves. Other departures are transfers. The receiving custodian could be the Minnesota Department of Corrections, another county jail, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, or another lawful agency. The official Pine County Jail page links to the live roster, but that roster does not label these outcomes.
The Pine County Sheriff release entry is the key local record. It can identify the actual release time, the manner or authority for release, and a destination or receiving agency when that item is public. A court order may show why release was authorized, while jail data can show when staff completed the physical process. Those events can occur at different times. A transfer also ends the Pine County Jail stay without ending custody, so the receiving agency must be checked before treating a roster disappearance as community release.
| Departure | Likely next record | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | Sheriff release entry and MCRO case | County confinement ended; the court case may continue |
| Local sentence ends | Sheriff calculation and release entry | Jail term ended; probation may still apply |
| Minnesota DOC transfer | DOC public viewer | Custody continued in the state system |
| Federal transfer | Federal docket, USMS, or BOP | County custody ended, but federal custody may continue |
Confirm Pine County Jail Release
Begin with the system tied to the last known custodian. The live PDF is a current-custody report, not a released-inmate archive. It carries a generated timestamp and shows current booking details, but Pine County promises no fixed refresh interval. A name missing from one version may reflect release, transfer, a data update, a different spelling, escape, or death. Durable confirmation comes from records that state the event.
- Check the official Pine current roster only to see whether the person is listed now. Match the name and booking number.
- Search Minnesota VINE for a county-jail custody event. A released or not-in-custody result is a near-term clue, not the permanent record.
- Open Minnesota Court Records Online and review the Pine County case for bond, dismissal, sentencing, jail credit, or another public order.
- Request the Pine County Sheriff booking and release data. Ask for the actual time, legal basis, and receiving agency if public.
- If the record names another custodian, switch to the DOC public viewer, BOP locator, federal docket, ICE locator, or USMS records route as appropriate.
A missing name is not proof of release. Confirm the event and destination through the sheriff record or the agency that received custody.
The broader Pine County released inmate search explains how the county, state, court, and federal records fit together. Use full name, date of birth, booking number, offender number, and court file whenever available. One spelling can miss a valid match. Each portal also has a different coverage limit, so a blank result in one system should not end the search.
Pine County Jail Release Records
For a maintained Pine County Jail record, send a narrow request to Sheriff Records. Identify the person, date of birth, approximate booking range, and any incident or case number. Ask to inspect the public booking sheet, booking number, admission date and time, release date and time, manner or authority of release, releasing facility, destination or receiving agency if public, bond entry, and booking photograph. The form permits inspection at no charge. Copies may carry a fee, but Pine publishes no fixed copy or photograph rate and promises only a response within a reasonable time.

The Pine County Sheriff records form cites Minnesota Statutes sections 13.03 and 13.04. Minnesota Statutes section 13.82 classifies law-enforcement data, including specified arrest and incarcerated-person fields, but it does not make an entire jail file public. Requester contact details are optional unless staff need them to clarify the request or deliver copies. Access to private data about oneself requires photo identification. Private data about another person requires signed authorization. Medical, juvenile, victim, witness, security, active-investigation, and court-sealed data may remain restricted, and the office need not create a new analysis that it does not keep.
Wording matters in a release request. Asking for an undefined inmate search can produce a current roster response that does not answer the historical question. Give an approximate booking range and request the admission and release entries by name. If exact physical release time matters, say so. Ask separately for the legal manner of release and the receiving agency, if public. A court disposition may explain the authority, but it may not record when jail processing ended. The two records should be compared rather than treated as duplicates.
Call the jail at 320-629-8400 when the need is immediate status routing or current release logistics. Do not assume the jail information line and Sheriff Records serve the same function. Records staff handle maintained booking and release data, while jail staff can address present operations. No verified public hours were found for either contact, so call before traveling.
Pine County Jail Custody Record
The Minnesota DOC inspection identifies the secure, coed county facility as Pine County Detention Center. The public county site commonly calls it Pine County Jail. It is operated by the Pine County Sheriff at 635 Northridge Drive NW, Suite 130, Pine City. The 2024 inspection reported an approved capacity of 131 and an operational capacity of 111.35, with certification listed through April 30, 2026. Those capacity figures describe inspected operations. They do not show the number of people held or released on a given date.
The official live roster shows name, booking or inmate number, charge and statute information, demographic descriptors, held-for agency, arrest date, arresting agency, bond or bail, report timestamp, a photograph, and a visitation notice. It does not show actual release time, release type, destination, court disposition, anticipated release date, discharge status, or an archive period. Pine County publishes no official 24-hour, 72-hour, or other recent-release feed, and no official sheriff inmate-lookup mobile app was found. Everbridge, JailATM, social links, and telephone-service tools do not replace a release record. The roster answers who appears confined in the generated report, while the sheriff release entry answers how a Pine County Jail stay ended.
The official Pine County Jail page shows the county’s route to its Inmate Roster.
This county page is the authoritative starting point, while the linked roster itself remains limited to current custody.
Federal Pine County Jail Transfers
Pine County’s July 2025 board packet documents U.S. Marshals Service intergovernmental agreement 41-91-0004 for federal prisoners housed at the county jail. A person detained for federal court under that agreement may be moved without ever becoming a sentenced BOP prisoner. A blank BOP Inmate Locator result therefore cannot establish that no federal custody followed. Review the federal court docket, ask Pine County Jail what receiving agency is public in the release record, and use the USMS records channel for maintained federal prisoner tracking data.
This agreement is not proof of a direct Pine County ICE detention contract. If the Pine release entry specifically documents immigration custody, ICE’s locator can cover current detainees and people released from ICE custody during its published 60-day window. A county-jail handoff to ICE is still a transfer. It is not a release to the community. Do not call Pine County Jail an ICE detention center based on a hold or a federal prisoner agreement.
- Detainer
- A request that a custodian give notice and briefly hold a person so another agency can assume custody.
- Transfer
- Movement from Pine County Jail to another legal custodian without freedom from confinement.
- Discharge
- The end of a correctional sentence or supervision, which is broader than release from one building.
Pine County Facility Release Systems
Pine County is unusual because county, state, and federal correctional sites are all physically present. Pine County Jail uses sheriff records and Minnesota VINE. MCF–Willow River uses the Minnesota DOC public viewer and Minnesota Haven. FCI Sandstone uses the BOP Inmate Locator and federal records. A search should follow the facility, not just the county name. Willow River departure can start community supervision rather than end the state sentence, while a past Sandstone release date ends BOP custody without necessarily ending federal supervision.
Facility identity prevents the most common search error. A person sentenced only in Pine County may never appear in the Minnesota DOC viewer. A Willow River participant should not be sought on the county roster. A sentenced FCI Sandstone prisoner belongs in the BOP locator, while a USMS pretrial detainee held at Pine County Jail may require the federal docket and jail record. Once the last facility is known, the correct release status and destination become much easier to verify.
Minnesota VINE adds a near-term event layer for Pine County Jail. It can show custody status, facility, booking identifiers, and scheduled-release information when the jail supplies it. Data generally arrive from county jails on state-described transmission schedules, so an alert may follow the court order or the physical process. VINE also has no published Pine released-result retention period. For an old event, the sheriff release entry and MCRO court file are more durable. State-prison alerts use Minnesota Haven instead, and federal releases use BOP records.
Note: Huber work release permits approved community movement during a jail sentence and should not be mistaken for final Pine County Jail discharge.
